SECTION 3: Monthly Regional Overview

Tempers are flaring all over the region.  There is a lot of distrust and dislike.  My inbox is filled each day with commentary and complaints from Coordinator's and members alike against each other.  At least for the time being it seems that I am not this months Villain.  When next month rolls around I'll probably have to report that this has changed.

I'll be implementing a new policy regarding Code of Conduct breaches (see below) and will be expecting backlash.

There needs to be enforcement of this however.  The Code of Conduct does nothing more than list the behavior that we expect from our members.  It's really a shame that this needs to be enforced.  However that's exactly what needs to be done.  The membership has forgotten that we are all in this to have fun.

I'm noticing one pattern however that seems to be recurrent.  New chapters and areas always seem to be full of ideas and desire.  They are driven to perform actions and such that will "better the Camarilla".  After a few months however the desire drops off, the apathy sets in, and they become disillusioned with the idea of "bettering the Camarilla".

This is an area that needs to be worked on as well.  Seeking to encourage the members with ideas and keep the enthusiasm level up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

SECTION 4: Projects

In response to the above section I am implementing some changes to hopefully rebuild a sense of regional identity.  Tom Sitch (email above) has been given the reigns of the Regional Newsletter.  He has some wonderful ideas that he is going to be implementing over the next few months.  I am expecting great things from him.  We aren't planning on the newsletter being a showcase of Regional art and/or fiction.  The newsletter will be used as a tool for the members and coordinators.  We are hoping to make it as enjoyable as possible to read while at the same time maintaining a focus on information and recognition.  Chapter/Domain spotlights, member of the quarter, and such.

I am accepting applications for both the ARC Events/Outreach and the Web Team Design Lead.  I can accept html mail, Office 97 docs (or compatible), and of course text.

And finally the one that I'm expecting backlash on.

Code of Conduct

There are an appalling number of members who are breaking the Code of Conduct.  These slips are nothing more than slight things such as a retort over email for a judgment call.  Or an open post about the lack of organization at a game or a meeting.  Taken individually these things are sometimes so slight as to not warrant attention.  However, the small breaches lead to bigger ones and soon the drip has turned into a torrent.

In my effort to prevent this I am instituting a No Holds Barred blanket Code of Conduct policy.  The policy is simply this.

Break the Code of Conduct and you win the following prizes; A nice no expenses paid one month Vacation to the non cam event of your choice.

A reduction of 1 MC and an appropriate loss of Prestige to place you at that new level.

This policy goes into effect immediately.

All coordinators need to inform their membership of this and also verify that every member knows the Code of Conduct.  To help facilitate this I have included a copy here.  Feel free to copy and distribute to your members.

Matt Smith (email above) as ARC Arbitration will be working with the Coordinators in an effort to prevent this policy from ever needing to be enforced.  He's better with words than I am and tends to be a bit more diplomatic.  In a nutshell what we are expecting from coordinators is this.

We want to encourage coordinators to work with your members so that there is a full understanding of this policy.  If we find that Coordinators are being lax in their enforcement of this policy then the Coordinator will suffer a loss of 1 MC and the appropriate prestige reduction.

Please understand that this is not targeted at anyone.  So please don't write to me and ask who prompted this course.

SECTION 5: Domain and Chapter Overviews

CHAPTERS

AZ003 - Song of Sonora

CC: Mike Meyer

cam_addict@hotmail.com

Comments: Watching the situation in AZ.

AZ004 - Night Shift

CC: Mike McLaughlin

tuxedo_mike@juno.com

Comments:  Watching the situation in AZ.

AZ005 - A Tithe of Souls

CC: Chris Durnell

blackfox5@earthlink.net

Comments:  Watching the situation in AZ.

CA003 - Phoenix House

CC: Jennifer Bollinger

firewolf@earthlink.net

Comments:  Jen mentions that the chapter has lost six members.  Five of which have left the Camarilla as a result of the NO Minors Policy.  Of the five only one was a minor.  The 6th member simply didn't have the time to participate.

CA012 - Moonlight Masquerade

CC: Jennifer Young

kaidin@syix.com

Jennifer is having email and computers problems.  What I do know is that the chapter is getting back on track with gaming.  They haven't held games in some time due to the lack of a CST.  Now that this position has been filed the local Cam/Anarch game is back and going once again.  I'm sure Jennifer will be caught up on her reports in no time.

CA013 - Pharos Myst

CC: Joe Loucks

Joe is getting Married and as such hasn't had time to really get going with the CC's duties.  I'm sure he'll make a excellent CC as he has already had coordinator experience in the past.

CA014 - Last Whiskey Bar -

CC: Katie Hunt

kit58kat@yahoo.com

Comments: Katie is new to the CC role.  She's be subbed to the lists and has begun communication with both myself and Ron.

CA015 - Anathema

CC: Ree Soesbee

vain13@hotmail.com

Comments:  Once again Anathema files "not" complaints against the Regional Coordinator Staff.  Unless I appoint an ARC - "Deal with Anathema" I don't think this office will ever be able to deal with them in the time frame that they wish.  So instead I shall just taunt them good naturedly in my RC report and hope that they get the humor instead of filling my box with more hate mail.

The members of Anathema are really on the ball and very involved with the Camarilla on local, regional, and national levels.  They are to be commended for their hard work and dedication.

CA016 - House of the Silver Crescent

CC: Michael Ly

hsc_coordinator@yahoo.com

Comments:  Another positive report from a chapter in the BMK Domain.  I'm really looking forward to what these chapters come up with in the future.

CA017 - The Bureau

CC: Marshal Foster

raven2@juno.com

Comments: As always the Bureau maintains a steady forward motion.  With the relaxed manner in which Marshal reports the ongoing status of The Bureau it sometimes makes me wish I could move down there to benefit from the stress free environment.  Marshal also took the time to tell us that he is chocolate flavored, looking for a job, and his hair is out of control.

Nice.

CA018 - Paradise Lost

CC: HL Reddick "Ismarc"

ismarc@home.com

Comments:  Ismarc is still very new to the CC position and reporting.  He says as much in his report and promises that in the next few months the reports will become more complete.

CA019 - Obsidian Bay

CC: Anthony Giacalone

agiacalone@obsidianbay.net

Comments:  Tony has his hands full with members who aren't playing nice.  I'

ve also been watching this one and have been working to help the situation.

If any disciplinary action is required it will come from Tony first.  I'd really like this to be handled without the need for that.

CA021 - Moustique Noir

CC: Tim McKusick

jackdeth@sonic.net

Comments:  The "Salon" event hosted by the chapter was a huge success with everyone having a good time and the chapter benefiting from a surplus of income.  Also in the works are a few new venues.  One of which will be a Troupe Dark Ages game.

CA022 - Dark Tower

CC: Rob Small

rls57@cvip.fresno.com

Comments:  Rob's got some concerns with Lapsed members.  He's on the ball dealing with it and is trying to utilize the E-store to help out in getting members renewed.

CA023 - Sepulchre

CC: Jayson Bouch

jaybouch@hotmail.com

Comments: Jayson reports some great team work going on between the chapters of the Black Magic Kingdom Domain.

CA024 - Maledorium

CC: Bob Janssen

bobjanssen@juno.com

Comments:  Bob reports that ComicCon is anxious to have Camarilla involvement again in running a Live Action game.  ComicCon is one of the largest Comic conventions each year and the potential exposure for the Camarilla is significant to say the least.

CA025 - Monsters Under the Bed

CC: Kimberly Albee

monsters_CC@hotmail.com

Comments:  Changes! Changes everywhere!  Kimmi the CC is stepping up to the DC positions, Mike the ACC/CST is expressing a desire to be CC.  Choli the ACST wants to be CST.  By next month I'm sure it will all be sorted out.

There are some more personality clashes going on in this chapter of the Myst domain as well.  Kimmi is handling the matter in a professional manner.  Once again I'm here to help but the situation needs to be handled locally if at all possible.

CA026 - Histum Yani

CC: Jeff DeCamp

dagda@syix.com

Comments:  Jeff and chapter are reporting successful charity events and inter-chapter coordination with Moonlight Masquerade.

CA027 - N&D

CC: Bruce Watts

alexander712@hotmail.com

Comments:  No report

CA028 - La Maison du Sanguinare

CC: Aaron Greusel

lmds-cc@noldor.org

Comments:  Progression from previous CC is going smoothly.  Aaron is on track and reports no problems.

CA029 - Reign of Ash

CC: Currently Unknown

Comments: No report

CA030 - Luna's Reprisal

CC: Chris Bartos

cc_lunasreprisal@hotmail.com

Comments: Chris's report indicates that there has been quite a bit of activity for Luna's reprisal in the form of member's transferring to other chapters and well as disciplinary action being taken against one.  I'll be contacting Chris to see if he needs any help.

CA032 - Chateau Gaumont

CC: Aaron Morgan

Akunin@jps.net

Comments:  Status Quo for the Sacramento chapter.  Aaron is still trying to teach prestige basics to the members.  Aaron is really learning the system well and doing a great job as CC.

CA033 - Dragon's Coil

CC: Robin Johnson

Coyote6@home.com

Comments: Report needs to be fleshed out a little bit.  Prestige listings were complete but little was told by the report as to what the chapter had done and is doing.

HI002 - Moonlit Isle Theatre

CC: James Weaver

Odinson000@yahoo.com

Comments:  Still no direct contact with James despite my attempts.  I'll keep trying.  I'm sure he's got his hands full with the new chapter.  James, if you see this. I've been trying to contact you through email.

NV004 - Ferae Noctis - Brenda Pettay

CC: Brenda G Pettay

brenda_CC@Juno.com

Comments:  Everything is coming along nicely here.  Anytime there is a change of C's there is always a lull during the transition.  Brenda is doing a great job at getting everything up to speed and is showing some great initiative as well.

UT002 - Crimson Sentinel

CC: Andy Diggs

groundzero_andy@hotmail.com

Comments:  Nothing pressing reported.  Boy that sounds lame doesn't it.  I hear more and more about UT from other sources than the CC's there.  I'll be contacting all chapters to judge the situation this month.

UT004 - House of the Rising Sun

CC: Arthur Hansen

arthurh@utah-inter.net

Comments: On track.  Few questions.

UT008 - Velvet Glove

CC: MJ McCorristin

Comments:  No problems to report.

UT012 - Obsidian Heart

CC: Leslie Moschetti

vampiremidnight@home.net / vmprmdnt@aol.com

Comments:  No contact from Leslie for a few months.

DOMAINS

AZD01 - Paraiso de Espinas/Paradise of Thorns

DC: Paula Schricker

techno@azstarnet.com

Comments:  There is quite a bit of turmoil surrounding the AZ Domain right now.  General lack of trust on the parts of many members in regard to the current leadership structure.  Paula is stepping down as DC and the Chapter Council has yet to elect a new DC.  When the new DC is chosen he/she and I will need to have a talk to see what we can do to get the tension is AZ disbursed.

CAD03 - Myst - Sean Stoney

DC: Sean Alexander

Halveric@aol.com

Comments: Another change in leadership.  Sean has Stepped down as DC as of this report.  Kimberly Albee, former CC of Monsters under the bed, will be filling the DC shoes.  There are a growing level of personality clashes within the domain and Kimmi is going to have her work cut out for her at the beginning.

CAD04 - Black Magic Kingdom

DC: Devon Helms

Kiropi@gte.net

Comments:  Very positive report.  I'll be watching this domain closely.

They have a great many drives and events planned.  Looks good.

UTD02 - Domain of Mountain Shadows

DC: Shelly Johnson

Sebj@uswest.net

Shelly reports that all is going well for the Domain of Mountain Shadows.

There are some communication problems between the CSTs/DST/RST but I'm confident they will be worked out in the near future.
