Section 1: Regional Overview

There are many things that I need to address and only so much space in a Regional Coordinators reports.  What CAN be said is that we are operating at less than optimal efficiency.

Of 5 Domains;

 2 On time Reports

 1 On time update

 2 have had no contact with me for Months despite my attempts at contact.

Of 33 Chapters;

 17 Reports

  9 On Time

  8 Late

As you can see this is far from optimum.

We have pockets of stability and pockets of chaos.  I believe that the most stable areas are those in which a level of mutual respect and understanding is being encouraged by the Overseeing Coordinators.  The areas of the most Chaos are those in which the Coordinators have yet to gain the trust and/or respect of the members they are administrating.

Regional issues are predominantly personal ones.  Public outcry usually concerns that which affects an individual members enjoyment and not issues of club policy.

This is something that I wish to address in the near future.  (See Section 2 below)

A new Regional Coordination Staff has been implemented.

As I mentioned last month, Shannon Quintero is the new Assistant Regional Coordinator “Arbitration”.  Shannon has impressed me of late with his insight and particular take on issues.  He has the ability to get to the core of an issue and diffuse it without seeming condescending or overbearing is to be commended.  It is my sincere belief that he will be of great benefit to the Region as soon as Coordinators start going to him for advice and not just when they have a complaint.  It is also my belief that interacting with him in an official capacity will allow me to grow as a person as well.

Kimiko Drew continues to exceed my expectations in her work on the SW Web site.  She and I are still working on creating a new, streamlined, yet dynamic site that will not only be of great use to the region, but enjoyable as well.  We plan to include the RST as well to make the site both Coordinator and Story based.

Aaron Morgan and Tim McKusick have been appointed to the position of ARC Prestige Review.  When viewing their applications I couldn’t decide between the two of them which to appoint.  A review of their time as CC’s didn’t help either since both of them are excellent chapter coordinators as well.

So I offered them the position jointly and to my great appreciation they both accepted.  Work with them has already begun and is proceeding at a good pace.  I am expecting that we will find our groove in the near future and be able to turn out Prestige reviews and MC approvals faster than ever before.

Section 2: Projects

With the formation of the new Coordination Team it allows me some time to work on personal projects.

Education:  As mentioned above my key project in the next few months will be educating the Coordinators.  Education begins with communication. We need to work on our communication, and I’m not just talking about direct email.  I’d like to focus on getting the SW-Coord list utilized to its fullest potential.  This will include question and answers being posted as well as events schedules being shared, etc.  I’d like to see the SW-Coord list used a bit more openly by all coordinators in the region.  Teamwork is of vital importance if we are to create an “identity” for the SW.

One of the key education issues to be addressed will be the Tome.  In my experience the Tome is a very under appreciated document provided to members by the Camarilla.  Educating the Coordinators on how to educate their members to the benefits of the Tome will be one of the first plans.

I view Coordinators as Teachers, especially Chapter coordinators.  CC’s are the first link that a member has to the club.  In my opinion the CC and CST are two of the hardest and most under appreciated positions within the current structure of the Camarilla.  It is my goal to strengthen those positions within the eyes of the general members.  I will do this through education.

I’m also hoping that I will be able to work more directly with the new SW RST and form the Team that every other region seems to have with their Regional Officers.

I’m still waiting for SWRE Prestige recommendations for some venues.  Once I receive them I will work on getting the long overdue prestige awarded to the appropriate parties.

Last but not least is the ongoing Web Project.  Not being a Web Author myself it is very difficult for me to express my ideas in such a way as to make them understandable by Kimiko.  I sincerely believe that once she and I “synch-up” and I learn how to express my thoughts in a way she can work with the SW Web site will become a marvel of marvels within the Camarilla web community.
