1. SUMMARY

This month was even busier than last.

Edited for privacy concerns

C. Legends & Dreams, affiliation issues

Legends & Dreams claimed originally to have been founded in Ventura, but are presently claiming to be a chapter based out of Thousand Oaks. Currently, only one member of that chapter actually lives in Thousand Oaks (none live in Ventura). Regardless of the chapter's motivations for founding themselves in Thousand Oaks, it seems inappropriate to allow a chapter to claim an area in which not even the majority of its members live.

Also, Legends & Dreams' chapter officers (Tye Graham, CC, 9802-013 and Elisa Graybill, CST, 9809-053) are currently living in the NW region. Without comment on their abilities as officers or the reason for their move, it's inappropriate for a chapter's officers to live outside the region of which the chapter is a part. I removed Elisa and Tye from their positions on August 16th. As neither Tye nor Elisa had applied for regional approval to continue their membership in the SW despite living outside the region, both of them are now considered to be members of the NW region. I alerted Julie Christensen (9802-095), NW RC, of the issue shortly after the decision was made.

Henceforth, here's the regional policy regarding chapters and locations:

The majority of the chapter's membership must reside in the area the chapter claims. For example, a chapter based in East Podunk must have at least 50% of its members living in East Podunk.

Also henceforth, a chapter's officers must live in the region in which the chapter is based. While the regional staff generally has no difficulty approving members who move to different regions and want to maintain a chapter affiliation in the Southwest, a number of issues are raised when a chapter's officers don't live in the region.

Legends of Dreams is now a part of the Los Angeles domain, and is expected to participate in its coordinator and storyteller chain to the extent that the Tome requires. To ease the transition, I've asked the LA coordinators to hold off on the DC election until L&D can elect new officers. Los Angeles shows promising signs of putting aside past animosity and working together to form a cohesive domain. I've informed all the coordinators in the area that the domain charter will be dissolved if hostilities continue.

D. Black Magic Kingdom/La Maison du Sanguinaire/Dark Side of Eden?

Shannon and I had received contact over some questionable actions of a CC and some interesting statements about officer appointments. I don't think either of us has touched this issue, either because we expected the DC to handle it or because we each thought the other was working on it. Some clarification is in order...Shannon?

/////////////////

RC Comments:

More to come this month on this as it is in progress.

//////////

E. Acting as RC in Shannon's absence

Most of the L&D situation occurred while Shannon was on vacation. I'm leaving him to deal with the majority of the fallout.

4. PROBLEMS/SOLUTIONS

A. Read the summary. My response time is greatly diminished.

B. Getting clarification on the BMK issue is necessary. Please contact me for further inquiry.

5. QUESTIONS/CONCERNS

A. Given the rash of suspensions and likelihood of historical issues coming to a head, can you please comment on the ability of the upcoming "My Camarilla" project to track legacy problems?

 ////////////

RC Comments:  This is a fairly generalized question.

Let's talk about specific examples and build an answer from there.

.//////////////

1. SUMMARY

A few difficult Prestige reviews completed, members concerns and questions have all been dealt with, and everyone has said they are happy with the results. Two in particular became quite stressful, but open communication between me and the two members being reviewed helped to ease the tension greatly!

2. OUTSTANDING ISSUES

Review of LA Ball 2000 awards (for consistency and to bring in-line with Tome limits).

3. CURRENT ISSUES

None, really - reviews backlog has been taken care of, now that Sarah is settled into the job and is getting settled into her new home.

I have spoken to Shannon about taking a two-week break. I've got some personal business that needs taking care of, am in need of a breather from my responsibilities, and my girlfriend is coming up on her first vacation since beginning her medical residency. Because of these factors, I'm planning a brief vacation from the ARC position. I have spoken with Sarah about handling matters on her own for the second half of this month, to which she has agreed. I will still be available in case of a Prestige "emergency" but I think that there's nothing that won't "keep" should it need my intervention. I'll make an announcement to the Region about the break, and notify people that response times might be a bit longer than usual.

4. REVIEWS COMPLETED

Adam Phelps - MC10

5. REVIEWS IN PROGRESS

Harold Hulbert (awaiting award for CC position - this will put him at the required amount for MC8) Stephany Moon MC6 (waiting for response to some questions)

Travis Jones (awaiting response to some questions)

RC Comments:

Some of these have been resolved since Aaron's report was submitted.

SUMMARY

This month has flown by. 5 weeks out from ICC 2K1 and working like a dog to make sure we have auction items, dealers and whatnot locked in.

Looks to be a great event.

2. OUTSTANDING ISSUES

Waiting to get pricing for the SW regional meeting food/snacks at ICC from John Duda to pass along to Shannon. If we have the meeting in the Convention Center- we have to use the hotel catering and can't bring in our own food.

3. CURRENT ISSUES

Haven't received any bids yet for the 2002 SWRE.

///////////////

RC Comments: It's unfortunate that we haven't received any submissions. It's a bit puzzling after the outcry heard over not having had one this year. Let's post another call to the region and keep the idea alive in their minds.

/////////////

4. QUESTIONS/CONCERNS

According to CNN last night the American Red Cross has enough blood for the victims in NY due to the American public being so quick to respond to the tragedy. Since blood only keeps for a limited amount of time- they are asking people to wait a couple weeks before donating if they haven't already. Not exactly an events concern, but more of a heads up.

VARIOUS STORIES

Currently on hold, Sean's stories was to go in RST side, but will now be posted on the regular site in the Gallery. Darcy's stories will be removed from consideration, until she returns to Camarilla activities.

COMPILATION OF RC/RST STAFF POSITION DESCRIPTIONS this is currently on a test page:

http://home.earthlink.net/~macruimmon/hwg-class/js/lesson6/index.html

I still need more Position Descriptions, and photos to continue.

E-LISTS FOR SW REGION

Information has been sent to all the *Cs of region, along with a general announcement to the sw-region list. CC/DC are to collect and forward their requests for lists of the region not on the tamu servers. I have received a few requests, which have been approved, and their list mods added to the swr-listmods list.

E-lists Database Project is nearing completion by Robert Nickel. Here is his report (edited for length).

Things are progressing nicely and I have a 'current' feature list for you.  Things that work so far:

* Search by chapter, domain, region, country, list description, venue, ic, category.

* List all lists in the database.  Things that is very nearly complete:

*Add/Edit/Delete chapter, domain, region & country records. (This is for the lists descriptions).

* Add/Edit/Delete users. There are 3 classes of users:

1) Master admins - they can admin everything to do with the CamLists database.

2) List moderators - they can admin everything to do with the lists that they admin.

3) Everyone else. They can view and click-subscribe to lists.

Users of type 1 and 2 must have accounts on the system. Type 3's just need to provide a camid and some bogus password.

(If Rob gets wddx working on the mycam site, they won't have to crank in their email addy to click subscribe to a list or define their chapter/domain/region information after logging in.) *Click subscribe. This is the last piece to complete the search and listing stuff.

The work is about 80% done at this point and all I need from you is an idea of what kind of reporting you wish to have.

--Robert

OVERVIEW

This report consists of the following sections:

1. SUMMARY OF RECEIVED REPORTS

2. LIST OF MISSING REPORTS

3. OUTSTANDING ISSUES

6. QUESTIONS/CONCERNS

1. SUMMARY

ARIZONA:

==============

AZ-003: The Last Outpost [Report late, 9/2/01] Chapter has 18 members. Last chapter meeting listed as "None see comments" but there is nothing in the comments regarding this. Next chapter meeting is scheduled as "8-4-01" but that date has come and gone; I can only assume it is a typo, and they meant September 4.

Fundraising efforts have been less than expected. The chapter will persist for another month, and then discuss alternatives.

Chapter has managed to procure discounted room rates at an undisclosed Ramada for ICC: $86.20 (incl. tax), quad occupancy per night. Ten of their members have confirmed attendances at ICC.

MC advancement audits for Phil Bernacke and Luci Horton to MC 6, and Mike Meyers to MC 7 are still in-process.

Chapter has a new CST; former CST has moved to Phoenix. New CST is former ACST.

I am including the following section from the report verbatim:

"Problems, Suggestions, and Questions: (From July

report: “I went to Sierra Vista chapter meeting on request of a few members of it and my chapter. I enjoyed sitting in and participating with another chapters meeting and members. Most of it went well they are a young chapter and have typical problems I offered up advice as well as Phil who gave them tips on character background and creation. I understand they are still not quite to 10 members, I wish them luck finding them.”) Well this month I was asked again to show up for a meeting with Sierra Vista Chapter and although not all members were present the CC and ex-ACC, who also happen to be family, argued and I had to step in and invoke the 24 hr rule on their issue. Part of the issue was a call; buy Christi Lawson, for a Vote of No confidence against the CC Steve Whitelock.

"I will have to state I think it very unfair that something that has gotten as big as the “Righteous Voice” that has been accepted, both here and in the UK, as a IC Newsletter for the Anarchs in the Camarilla."

//////

RC Comments:

I'm a bit confused by the last comment here. It seems like and unfinished sentence. What is thought to be unfair? That the "RV" is big? I'd be interested in clarification.

//////

AZ-004: Nightshift

Last Chapter meeting August 16; next chapter meeting first or second Thursday in September.

One member moved to Sierra Vista and transferring to Mysterio Vista Chapter (AZ008).

Ongoing food drive at a crawl, though it will continue with some encouragement as donations are being made. Clothing drive has been started, scheduled to end on September 15. Agency which accepts food also accepts clothing, so this may be an on-going project as well.

Chapter will participate in Walk Against Cancer in October.

A new ACC Prestige was put in place to replace the old one who moved.

Report includes kudos to ARC Prestige Aaron Morgan for his excellent turn-around time on e-mails.

Concerns: CC notes the non-responsiveness of Membership services. Notes that members of the Chapter do not see their information updated in the database, and that a group membership sent is has not been processed though the check has been cashed. CC wonders if this is a problem that can be addressed with more volunteers to help.

No other problems/questions/comments on the report.

///////

RC Comments: Peter has given the Coords feedback on this. We instructed them on how to contact membership services for updates. In the event the Membership services dose not reply within the timelines stated on the Cam web site, the next appropriate course of action, per the Tome, is to file a complaint about that officer's performance. I'm wondering if maybe the institution of MyCam DB will be replacing the current DB and folks are simply waiting to transfer the data before making additional updates.

///////

AZ-005: Tithe of Souls [Reports late, 9/11/01; CC not subbed to SW-Reports]

July: Chapter has 16 members; one (1) returning member, one (1) transferal in, and one (1) pending with five (5) potential new members attending games. One (1) member passed an Ordeal this month. Two (2) members nominated for more than 100 Prestige points this month. Last Chapter meeting July 7; next Chapter meeting August 4.

Current projects include a clothing drive, a canned food drive, attending HexaCon as a recruitment drive, and more social events to help people get better acquainted.

Problems: ACC Reports has stepped down; thus no May or June reports were submitted.

Questions: CC wonders how to get approval for MC6 advancement as they have no Domain Coordinator.

//////

RC Comments:

The Report is the CC's responsibility. He can have an ACC Reports to handle the responsibility for him, but it is still his responsibility. Not having an ACC Reports is not an excuse to fail to send in reports, especially over a period of consecutive months.

As far as MC reviews that exceed the CC's authority for an independent chapter, such reviews are submitted to our sw-prestige list. The Prestige ARCs will then review the member's logs and make whatever decisions/corrections/requests for more information they deem necessary.

////////

August: Chapter has 18 members; two (2) new members this month. One (1) member nominated for over 100 Prestige Points this month. Last Chapter meeting August 4; next Chapter meeting September 1.

Potential new members who attended games last month are filling out paperwork to join the club.

Current projects include a clothing drive, a canned food drive, and more social events to help people get better acquainted.

Problems persist between Tithe of Souls and Night Shift. CCs of both Chapters are working to smooth these over. It is slow going, but they are confident things will get worked out.

No other suggestions/concerns/comments in the report.

AZ-008: Kokopelli's Dream [Reports late, 9/3-9/4/01; April - August included] (ARC Note: CC (April - June) and CST have not passed required ordeals; no date when positions assumed was included in the reports.)

April: Chapter currently has 10 members. Still waiting for Josh Friedman's prestige from Seattle. One member nominated for over 100 Prestige Points. No other problems/questions/concerns/comments included in the report.

May: Chapter showing 10 members. Still waiting for Josh Freidman's prestige from Seattle. One member nominated for over 100 Prestige Points.

No other problems/questions/concerns/comments included in the report.

June: Chapter has 11 members. One member nominated for over 100 Prestige Points. No date of last Chapter meeting specified; next Chapter meeting on July 15. No other problems/questions/concerns/comments included in the report.

July: Chapter has 11 members. New CC appointed (Travis Jones, currently undergoing Prestige audit); previous CC stepped down due to real life considerations. Last Chapter meeting on July 15; next Chapter meeting on August 8. Chapter social set for August 18. Two pending members are still waiting to receive their Cam numbers. No other problems/questions/concerns/comments included in the report.

August: Chapter has 10 members; two (2) pending and one (1) transfer; one member has allowed her membership to lapse with no plans for renewal. Last Chapter meeting August 19; next Chapter meeting TBD.

Chapter is running smoothly. CC trying to find out about rumors of their "yellow status" being true. CC mentions he is having difficulty getting subscribed to the SW-Coord list.

/////

RC Comments:

If you are still having difficulty subscribing, please advice the ARC Administration Tara Bravo.

///////

AZ-Pending: Misterio Vista

(ARC note: CC and CST assumed positions on Feb 1, 2001; have not passed required ordeals within required time.) Chapter has seven (7) members; four (4) new members and nine (9) pending members. Barbara Smith is pending approval for MC2.

Last Chapter meeting

August 27; next Chapter meeting September 7. Chapter treasury is empty.

One member recommended for Regional Prestige.

Current projects include a food drive for charity and a can-recycling drive to raise chapter funds.

Problems: "Christy Berrnake called for a vote of no confidence, which will be, decided next chapter meeting. Christy is also complaining that her questions for her audit of MC5 will not be ready before I send this report up, there for you will receive a report logging her correct amount over next month. The chapter mailing address has changed who do I see abut changing this in the camarilla?"

/////

RC Comments:

The Cam Web site should have a contact point for the Director of Chapters.

//////

No other questions/concerns/comments in the report.

CALIFORNIA:

==============

CAD-003: Domain of Myst

Domain has two (2) Chapters. Domain Treasury contains $474.00 [Pending retrieval of the $249.00 cashiers check from former DC]. Last Domain meeting August 5; next Domain meeting September 29.

Last Chapter Council

meeting September 2; next Chapter Council meeting October 7. Last Officers' Training meeting September 2; next Officers' Training meeting is pending.  Three members are pending MC approvals: John Oliver

(9908-088) and Choli Lightfoot (9905-128) to MC7, and Keith Johnson

(9910-018) to MC6; Sandra Stewart (9704-092) is being audited for MC6 (or higher).

Projects: Domain business license is on hold due to the "current instability of the Domain as a whole." Member of the Month is being restructured due to difficulties with chapter responsiveness and cooperation, primarily The Dragon's Coils. The DC is dropping this as a domain-sponsored project.  Camp Camarilla is done; prestige awards, as well as a request for Regional Prestige for some is included in the report.

Domain fundraisers are on hold until the October 7 meeting due to the status of the Domain. The MystBucks/MystStore project is ongoing; Robin is working with the team to get this online by the end of the month. The Big Book of the Domain and Chapters is finished.

Domain meeting notes are available at

http://www.elysiumgrounds.com/Myst/dc/01-09-02dc.pdf.

Highlights include:

1. "Chapter coordinators are going to create a survey that gathers information about what the members like to do, common interests to start to plot the direction the domain as a -group- works. The end conclusion of the Coordinators Council meeting was that it is clear that the two chapters may not have enough in common outside the game to actually constructively and interactively reside in the same domain and support that domain." Results of this survey will be discussed at the October 7 meeting.

2. Sixty-two percent (62%) of the Domain members participated in the State of the Domain survey. Results were not included in the report, but can be found at http://www.elysiumgrounds.com/Myst/dc/survey2results.htm.

3. A new Domain survey has been instituted "to gather information on what members think is above and beyond the duties of a Chapter, Domain or Regional Coordinator." DC suggests this might be valuable at the National level and would like to have it considered: "I may request to open it up for a small national prestige amount to the nation to gather more information."

4. Money sent for ICC table. If the Domain folds, those resources will be available for Chapter use.

5. DST is stepping down. Nominations are open until September 14. The Sabbat get was "messed up" due to scheduling conflicts. A Wraith game is scheduled for the September 29, with a social, costuming workshop and open Domain meeting before the game. Site is TBD. Solstice Celebration is on hold until Domain situation can be resolved; it is "impractical" to spend the money needed to reserve space if it may result in one person left financially liable for a $500 expense.

6. No progress has been made on Camp Camarilla 2002.

7. Domain membership drive is underway; goal is to have 10 new members by years' end. In addition to Prestige award, members who recruit others will be given $50 MystBucks. Recruiting five (5) new members will get a member a $50 Fry's Electronics (or equivalent other business) Gift Certificate; recruiting 10 new members will get $100 in gift certificates. The Chapter which recruits the most members will get $20/new member (max. $100 dollars) for their Chapter treasury, plus a pizza party at the location of their choice (within reason).

There are no disciplinary measures this month.

Questions:

1. What are the "above and beyond" criteria for a CC/DC to earn 50 Prestige in the Administrative category?

2. Four (4) recommendations for Regional Prestige are included in the report; explanations are provided.

3. What is the timeframe for receiving Prestige/MC audits back from the Regional staff? Six (6) have been submitted in the last two months; what is the status of these?

4. A list of Prestige-related questions has been compiled at http://www.elysiumgrounds.com/Myst/dc/01-09-02dc.pdf.

Answers would be

appreciated.

5. For Jim Blaylock: Joe Loucks (9604-130, CA-013) and Dan Bass (9905-060, CA-033) have both reported on-time for a six month period (December 2000 to July 2001 for Joe, and February 2001 to August 2001 for Dan). No National prestige award has been included in any NC report to date.

6. For Lisa Charlton: Rowan Cota, 2000-04-073 has a small piece in the Requiem, page 35. She has not received prestige for this.

////

RC Comments:

Aaron Morgan, one of the Prestige ARCs has answered question number 1 on several occasions.

The Prestige team works as quickly as is reasonably possible. Response times are faster during light load periods and slower during the heavier times. The best way to get an idea of turn around is to politely ping sw-reports on an estimated turnaround time for the specific review. They address reviews in the order that they are received, so once a review is 'queued' they can give you a fairly accurate estimation on when they will begin working on it. As reviews can take a variable amount of time to resolve (dependant on the need for more information or corrections to be made) the resulting turn around time can vary as well.

I took a look at the questions addressed in the lengthy pdf file the link takes you to.

Many of the 'clarification questions have been answered on several occasions. I am concerned that this may no longer be an issue of asking for clarification anymore, it appears to resemble a debate now. If there is a disagreement with the calls and rulings on prestige questions, I direct folks to the appeal process. The other flavor of questions in the document are not actually questions, they are requests for changes and additions to the prestige system. I would suggest that such a proposal might best be addressed as a presentation to Trevor Jole through the Prestige point of contact at the National Cam site.

//////

CAD-004: Black Magic Kingdom

Domain comprised of four (4) Chapters. Two members nominated for over 100 Prestige points due to Ordeal completions.

Problems: The CC and CST of Dark Side of Eden have been put up for a vote of "no confidence." Unfortunately, this has caused a lot of flaming to occur on the Chapter list. The DC has assumed moderator duties for that list, and is hoping the upcoming vote at the Chapter meeting on September 8 will allow this issue to run its course and resume business-as-usual. This is not the only issue DSoE is having, but the report did not include details, deferring those until next months' report in the hope that face-to-face discussion will help ameliorate them.

CC of House of Silver Crescent (CA-016) is stepping down to take a job on the Storytelling staff.

Domain is working on a fundraising project; no details were specified.

Questions: DC wants to know "how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?"

/////

RC Comments:

This depends on whether the woodchuck in question was a member of a Union. Disabilities and medical concerns aside. The woodchuck would also need to meet whatever labor laws applied in the country/state he resides and works in.

/////

CA-003: Phoenix House [Report late, 8/7/01] (ARC note: CST has only passed Ordeal of the Tome; no date position was taken indicated in report.)

CA-013: Pharos Myst

Chapter has 22 members; one (1) member has transferred in from Children of Lost Eden in New York City. Four members are pending MC approvals: Tara Bravo to MC3, Rowan Cota to MC4, Choli Lightfoot to MC7, and Adam Phelps to MC10.

One member, Ronni Eloff (9708-028), nominated for over 100 Prestige; three (3) members nominated for Regional Prestige and one (1) for National prestige.

Last Chapter meeting August 18; only five (5) members in attendance.

Next Chapter meeting September 15.

Current projects include a Chapter survey and an "aggressive" membership recruitment drive designed to bring in new members who have not been in the Camarilla previously.

Problems: Jeffrey Scott Warren (9802-128) has left the Camarilla for personal reasons. Bruce Bayha (2000-05-025) has expired not been heard from for several months. Both have been removed from the Chapter roster.

Chapter reports from April - July did not include Prestige for ACSTs; Prestige for those time periods is included in current report.

Questions: Still awaiting Gold Team ICC 2000 Prestige.

Attempts to contact Katie Montgomery and John Duda have been fruitless. What is the next step? Rowan Cota (200004-073) has an item which appeared in the new Tome; no Prestige award has been received. Has it been released? If so, how to check up on it?

/////

RC Comments:

Make sure you have documentation of your precious attempts to contact the offices in charge of recommending/awarding the prestige in question. Ping them again, if they do not reply within 30 days, it may be time to submit a complaint to their supervising officer. The goal here of course is to make an honest attempt to bridge communication if possible, ////

CA-015: Anathema

(ARC Note: CC and CST have not passed the required ordeals yet; no mention of when they assumed those responsibilities was made in the report.) Chapter has 27 members. Last Chapter meeting was August 7; next Chapter meeting is September 8.

Kevin Millard (9809-017) is still waiting for a Prestige award for editing the Vampire 5.0 rules in November of 1999.

Two members are pending MC approvals: John Blankenship

(9705-021) from MC9 to MC10, and Dan Luboff (Pending) from MC1 to MC7.

Questions: CC is concerned about the possibility for Prestige Award abuse for Cam-sanctioned Troupe Games, as there are no detailed guidelines for Troupe games. "What sorts of events are allowable as 'cam-sanctioned troupe'?" "How much prestige can be earned from these events?"

No other problems/concerns/comments included in the report.

/////

RC Comments:

The first part of this question is really a more ST related question. It's is answered right there in the Tome however. It is clearly defined. The prestige awards available are also presented clearly in the Tome.

///////

CA-016: The House of the Silver Crescent (ARC Note: CST assumed office on 12/15/2000; shows "Pending" on Lore of Narration, but has resigned in order to serve as

ARC-Outreach.)

Chapter currently has 11 members. Last Chapter meeting August 18; next Chapter meeting not scheduled yet. Two members passed ordeals this month.

New CC and CST were elected at the last meeting and will assume their duties on September 1.

Ongoing community service project will be the Isaiah House in Santa Ana, a Catholic Worker community within Orange County which feeds "unfortunates waiting in the Civic Center area of Santa Ana." The Chapter has participated with them previously and will continue to do so.

Current project will be to simplify the transition from old to new officers. Also to find a new hosting service for the Chapter Website.

Members agreed to pool their funds in order to purchase a Domain name and pay for hosting.

No other problems/questions/suggestions/comments in the report.

CA-021: Moustique Noir [Report late, 9/2/01] (ARC Note: CC assumed position on 01/01; has not passed any of the required ordeals yet.) Chapter has 57 members. One member, Dave Barry (9803159), is pending MC5. Last Chapter meeting August 29; next Chapter meeting September 26.

Current projects: An ongoing clothing and food drive.

Blood drive held on August 18.  One new member has been given someone else's membership number.  Additionally, repeated inquires and e-mails regarding membership numbers for a group membership have yielded nothing. Finally, one member renewed online and sent in a check; which was "lost."

No other problems/questions/concerns/comments included in the report.

CA-022: Dark Tower

Chapter has 29 members; nine (9) pending members.

Chapter Treasury has

$161 dollars. Mica Simonian (2000-01-146) is pending MC5 approval. Last

Chapter meeting July 14; next Chapter meeting September 22.

Turnout for Mage venue is very good; consistent player attendance and much enthusiasm for the venue. Cam/Anarch has been seeing out-of-town players dropping in more frequently; CST adjusts the games to accommodate them much to the local players' delight. Sabbat venue has seen a downturn in attendance. Changeling added players this month when Scotty McQuiston ran a game. The poll is still out on Garou, so the chapter has not decided whether or not to re-apply for this venue. All Venues will be holding a workshop for players.

No charity activities were organized in August.

Upcoming charity events

include: Habitat for Humanity in September, 5% of ICC raised monies for charities will be donated to Cat Haven/STOLA in October, food bank/Poverello House or PBS telethon in November, and Tree Fresno in December.

Chapter sold sodas as a fundraiser at their major weekend gaming event; total raised not included in report due to CC being "too lazy to get up right now, find my keys and unlock [the lock box] and do extra math."

CC assisted two members in rebuilding their Prestige Logs this month.

Additionally, two members where sent up for MC advancement approvals.

No chapter meeting held in August due to lack of interest: "I did not

host one this month because of the poor attendance at these meetings. There were no serious issues to bring up, and nothing was brought to my attention.

Chris and I feel that if there isn't something important to talk about, or nothing is brought to our attention, it has become unnecessary to hold a chapter meeting every month where the same people who can't earn the prestige show up and it becomes an officer's meeting."

Thanks and congratulations were extended to the entire SWRC staff for their "hard work" and the "fantastic job" they are all doing.

Problems: CC is wondering about a transferal approval he sent up to the RC two weeks ago. He has heard nothing back yet, and would like an update, even if it is "I'm still thinking about it...." He would like to know what to tell the member.

Also, Prestige in this report may be inaccurate due to moving on the part of the CC; will be straightened out next month.

Questions: A request to the RC on the part of one member is being forwarded privately to Shannon rather than being included in the report.

////

RC Comments: I apologize if I have not gotten back to you on this. Shoot me an email summarizing the details please.

////

CA-025: Monsters Under the Bed

Chapter has 11 members; two (2) transferred members into the Chapter.

Last Chapter meeting August 25; next Chapter meeting TBD.

After elections, Kimmi Allbee, has assumed the position of CC once again; former CC has moved to Modesto and is transferring to a Chapter there. Games are being moved to 1st and 2nd Saturdays of the month. Mage will be held both days; Sabbat on one, and a Cam/Anarch Salon game follows the next week.  Change in the Prestige tracking is proceeding well.  Daven and Kimmi will be sitting down with members to review their records.  Greg Milardo has requested 3 National Prestige points for helping Matt Smith with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser. CC feels this is justified and would like someone who can to make the award. Tony Mungo's former CC has e-mailed a Prestige total to Harold, but no log has been forthcoming. Member has been warned that unless a log is submitted, the MC will be lost.

No other comments/questions/concerns included in the report.

CA-026: Hitsum Yani [Report late, 9/11/01] Chapter has 13 members; one (1) member transferring in. Two (2) members awarded over 100 Prestige Points; both passed Ordeals this month. Last Chapter meeting July 25; next Chapter meeting August 29.

Current projects: Car wash next month.

Questions: (ARC note: It's just better if I quote the first one

directly.)

1. "I would like a suggestion on how I should go about requesting MC class increases. Kevin Boundy and My self are at MC 6, and Devan Owen is at MC 8, however the according to the Tome MC class 6 - 8 needs to be approved by a DC, as we have no DC at this time the RC should respond accordingly.

In my June report I had asked for approval via my CC report for myself, I had forgotten to ask for the other 2 members as my level should have increased in December of last year or January of this year. Due to an Administrative back up prestige awards from August of 2000 did not get awarded until much later. For right now I will await approval for myself as I have an appropriate up line to petition to, but I will be granting the MC 6 to Kevin Boundy and MC 8 to Devan Owen until I hear otherwise as they have earned it outright with no prestige pending. My members should come first and they will need the MC levels for ICC."

2. CC is wondering if the report format has changed, or if the old one will suffice.

3. Moonlight Masquerade and Hitsum Yani submitted a "request for a Domain" and have heard nothing back. They would like a status update.

////

RC Comments:

As far as MC reviews that exceed the CC's authority for an independent chapter, such reviews are submitted to our sw-prestige list. The Prestige ARCs will then review the member's logs and make whatever decisions/corrections/requests for more information they deem necessary.

Do not suppose that you can award MC that exceeds your capacity as a CC, doing so will result in disciplinary action ////

CA-027: Nickels and Dimes [Report late, 9/9/01] Last Chapter meeting August 27; no date for next Chapter meeting (other than last weekend of the month) included in the report. Chapter has 12 member; four (4) pending and three (3) inactive.

Lack of interest in the ACC position has led CC to appoint someone to the position. CC says report is late because members are not submitting their Prestige to him.

Chapter is trying to put together a Halloween social.

Also in the works is a blood drive.

No other problems/questions/concerns/comments included in the report.

CA-030: Luna's Reprisal [Report late, 9/3/01] Chapter has 20 members; one (1) member transferred in from Maledorium this month. Five members have passed various Ordeals this month. Chapter Treasury contains $36.80. Last Chapter meeting August 29; next Chapter meeting TBD.

CA-032: Chateau Gaumont de la Nuit Eternelle [Report late, 9/10/01] (ARC Note: CC has not passed the required ordeals. No position starting date included in the report.) Chapter has 15 members; two (2) members transferred into the Chapter this month. Last Chapter meeting was in August; next Chapter meeting in September -- all meetings held on the third Sunday of the month.

One member passed all four Ordeals this month.

Ongoing project is the twice-monthly Sabbat game.

Chapter is also working on a bid for ICC, SWRE, and increasing their membership and game attendance.

Chapter has organized a blood drive in honor of Michael Isaacs, who was diagnosed with leukemia. Newsletter and Web site are undergoing revamping; volunteers are being sought. New STs were elected.

Problems: One member suspended (voluntarily) for a CoC violation; details are in the report.

CA-033: The Dragon's Coils

Chapter has 13 members; one previously-expired member is transferring into the Chapter. Last Chapter meeting August 25; next Chapter meeting September 22.

Two members elected Chapter Member of the Month in a tie vote. Members voted on Domain Member of the Month. Chapter considered giving funds to the park, or doing a park cleanup where they hold their game as a "thank you" for allowing them to use the site. Marinchap list will be restricted to TDC members only. An effort is being made to clean up the Chapter By-Laws.

Chapter wonders what benefits the Domain gives the Chapters. These concerns will be addressed at the next Domain meeting.

No other problems/questions/concerns/comments in the report.

CA-034: Dark Side of Eden [Report late, 9/4/01] Chapter has 15 members; one (1) member transferring to LMDS, three (3) members transferring in from LMDS on 9/01. Two members passed various ordeals this month (including CC who passed first two Ordeals). Two members are pending MC advancement from MC3 to MC4: Robert Saunders and Dawn Ramos.

Two members were nominated for more than 100 Prestige Points, primarily due to passing Ordeals. Last Chapter meeting on June 9; next Chapter meeting on September 8.

Elections of CC and CST will happen at the next Chapter meeting. Chapter is looking for gaming site with an eye toward an indoor venue as winter approaches. They are also working on coming up with fundraisers and charity projects.

CA-035: City of Voices Lost

(ARC Note: CC and CST assumed positions on 4/1/01; neither has passed any of the required ordeals.) Chapter currently has eight (8) members; no pending, new or transferals.

Last chapter meeting was August 17; next chapter meeting September 14.

CST is currently in the hospital; no details of his condition included in the report.

One member, Matt Costa (2001-04-016), nominated for more than 100 Prestige points.

No other problems/questions/suggestions/comments in the report.

CA-036: Void Ascending

Chapter currently has nine (9) members; six (6) members are pending; one

(1) Member transferred out of the chapter to Dark Tower.

There are two members, Steve Kountz (2000-10-146) and Chris Smith

(2000-02-089) pending MC4 approval.

Three members, Chris Smith (2000-02-089), Steve Kountz (2000-10-146), and Leif Davison (2001-03-066) were recommended for prestige in excess of 100 points this month.

Last chapter meeting August 18; next meeting September 15.

Current project is to organize a charity event. The chapter recently completed a community service project of distributing lunch to the homeless for three (3) hours.

No other problems, suggestions, questions or comments were in the report.

CA-Pending: In the Shadows of a Saint [Report late, 9/2/01] (ARC note: CST assumed position on May and has not passed any of the required ordeals yet.) Chapter currently has 19 members, five (5) pending members. Chapter treasury contains $2 dollars. David McGuire

(2000-07-159) passed the Code of Chapters.

Last Chapter meeting August 24; next Chapter meeting September 21.

The selection of a new DC has been delayed due to the absorption of Legends & Dreams and the CC of Sunset Strips stepping down. According to the report, neither chapter has selected new officers nor can’t the DC selection continue until that is resolved. A new ADST Influences was selected, and chapter members are being encouraged to take the Ordeal of the Tome.

Chapter newsletter is having problems getting started; no one wants to submit items for it.

Possible game sites were discussed.

Finally, the "over-reliance on e-mail and the [sic] internet" was discussed. Some members do not have access to either of these, so CC will begin phoning everyone to remind them about Chapter meetings.

There are no current projects. There were no problems/questions/suggestions/comments in the report.

CA-Pending: Twilight Cathedral

NEVADA:

==============

NV-Pending: Dark Glittering Knights

Chapter has 18 members, two (2) new members, three (3) pending members.

Chapter Treasury contains $17 dollars. Three members, Guy Seggev (9511-039) to MC7, Nathan Pulley (2001-05-095) and Valorie Garrard (2001-02-092) to MC2, are pending MC approvals.

Last chapter meeting was August 4; next meeting is September 15.

General items of interest from meeting included:

change in ACC position;

notification that Tomes were mailed out; lack of group membership availability on the Web site; location of August and September games; discussion of record-keeping for Prestige and Chapter funds; "public" status of chapter and member records, chapter reports and chapter storyteller reports (which parts are public and which are not); need for a site fee; writing a Chapter constitution; Chapter officer review procedures; mechanics for in-game combat (decks vs. fight-sheets) and dealing with members visiting from other areas.

There is some concern over whether or not their check for Chapter fees has been cashed. Two members have received their Cam numbers and Tomes, but not their membership cards.

Current projects include the pop-tabs for Ronald McDonald House. Chapter gives 1 Prestige Point per 5 pop-tabs, with a max of 20 points per member per month. The chapter is looking into other charity opportunities.

Chapter is concerned that they still do not have their chapter number.

They mention the first application was "lost somewhere in the process" and would like an update on their second chapter application.

One member whose name is listed incorrectly in the membership database is being reported as "lost." Another member has received his Cam number, but no membership card. Both problems have been addressed with the Membership office.

A new OOC list for DKG has been established, as well as an OOC list for DKG and Vegas Stakes. Chapter is looking into a new Website, as previous list and Website were closed down.

NV-Pending: Vegas Stakes

Chapter currently has 19 members, three (3) new members. Chapter treasury contains $157 dollars. Last Chapter meeting August 26; next Chapter meeting September 9.

Three members passed the Ordeal of the Tome this month. The following members qualify for MC advancement: Matt Giezentaner, 2001-05-094, to MC 4; Eric Guzman, 200105-096, to MC 2; Dustin Gwin, 200105-060 to MC 3; Mario Kellert, 200106-022 to MC 2; and Shane Larson, 200105-058 to MC 2.

Three members earned more than 100 Prestige this month as a result of passing Ordeals.

Chapter has purchased a Domain name for their Website and Webmaster has donated server space for the site.

Newsletter is still in process.

Problems: CC has received membership number but no membership card. A renewing member from 1996 does not have Prestige records; CC has already consulted with Regional staff on this issue who advised him to contact National. CST reports he is having problems dealing with other STs as a result of his Cam number being so recent; the perception is that he doesn't know what he is doing because he is so new to the organization when he has been acting as a MET ST for years in their Troupe games. CC reports several members live well outside the city, requiring a 45-minute drive in each direction on the part of someone who can pick them up for them to attend games; he is wondering about ways to compensate them with Prestige as the Guidelines in the Tome state a 2-hour distance.

Questions: When will chapter get their Chapter number?

CST Reports he cannot log into the Approvals database without one.

Comments: Chapter has started an IC and OC list and needs approval for them to be "official." CC reports he is working with the CC of Dark Glittering Knights to acquaint her with my Coordinators Tracking System in the hopes that when they become a Domain it will be easy to consolidate the information. Cam-sponsored social events fell by the wayside due to everyone gearing up for the new school year. Chapter members participated in a recent blood drive. They have also turned in almost 1500 pop-tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. As some members cannot participate in blood drives, the chapter has arranged with the Nevada Liver Foundation to donate bags of soda cans; chapter will grant 15 Prestige for this. The combined Vegas Stakes/Dark Glittering Knights back-to-back games in September is getting a good response; they expect members from California, Illinois, and Utah to participate with local members providing boarding space. CC is considering ACC positions for Internet and Publications. Finally, CC is considering more than one Chapter meeting per month due to membership having such divergent schedules because of the 24-hour nature of Las Vegas; he feels two meetings would be required in order to obtain a majority vote on anything.

/////

RC Comments: I advise contacting the National office through the point of contact at he National Cam web site to look into chapter/member numbers.

In regards to the Approvals DB, that's a valid concern. I advise contacting the RST office to see if accommodations can be worked out.

In regards to the 'rookie treatment' the CST is receiving, I point again to the Conflict Resolution process in the Tome. Step one is to bring you concerns up directly with the 'offender'. Talking directly often resolves these kinds of issues. The CoC specifies 'courteous and respectful' in one's conduct with fellow members.

UTAH:

==============

UTD-02: Mountain Shadows

Last Domain meeting

August 28; next Domain meeting September 25.

DST will be stepping down in January; DC anticipates many people will be taking their Ordeals between now and then.

Renaissance Faire (the Domain fundraiser) will be moving to the Salt Lake Valley this year; hoping to get Wheeler Historic Farm for this popular event. Site will cost more but should be offset by increased number of vendors and higher attendance.

Still waiting on Prestige Awards for DST from Peter Kuszta. DC wonders if she should just make awards as she sees fit or continue to wait?

RC Comments:

I suggest pinging the Regional ST office. If 30 days pass and there is no response, a complaint can be filed.

////

UT-002: Crimson Sentinel

3. OUTSTANDING ISSUES

None that I am aware of at this time.

4. CURRENT ISSUES

Coordinators are still having trouble getting on the SW-Coord and SW-Reports list. I am sending direct requests to Tara with their e-mail addresses, and also referring them to Tara directly; however the chorus of voices I've heard on this issue make me wonder if all is well with the Tamu list servers.

Coordinators are also reporting membership numbers/cards/materials problems. It appears to be taking inordinate amounts of time to get membership numbers; and once those are issued, membership cards and welcome packages do not appear at all. I have sent a message to those affected telling them to contact the Membership Offices as the Regional Coordinators office cannot assist in this matter (as per Shannon's instructions).

5. PROBLEMS/SOLUTIONS

None that I am aware of at this time.

6. QUESTIONS/CONCERNS

What is the status on the Ventura Chapter (CA-Pending), and on House of the Desert Rose (UT-011). I was under the impression that the former never got through it's Pending period, and that the latter was desanctioned last month, but would like to know officially.

SWARC: PUBLICATIONS REPORT OF 9/01

1. SUMMARY

FINALLY I've got the first issue off. Of course I have noticed a few mistakes, but with the material I had to work with I'm pleased with the way it came out. I've just acquired a new job working swing shift; this is going to allow me a lot more time to spend in creating the next and future issues of Eternal Times. The next will be even better with more coverage/space given to the larger events that have and will take place within the Southwest Region. Later this week I plan to dig deeper into coverage of those events. I also plan to post a weekly invitation to the region for submissions to the newsletter that include a countdown to the submission deadline.

I'm hoping this

gives everyone more of a chance to contribute and for all to get a more clearly expressed sense of when they can expect the next issue.

2. OUTSTANDING ISSUES

Ya know, I can't think of a one.

10 Regional for submission (I used something off the web that she wrote on Pennons)

In the interest of getting this report off sooner than later let me say now that for each of the graphics used in advertising the ICC-2k1 and the ACC-ICC World Tour I would recommend 10 Regional, only I'm not sure who made them up. But I'm working on researching that and will include my recommendations for those individuals both in a direct post to Shannon and later in my next monthly report.

5. QUESTIONS/CONCERNS

Just wrapping up the recommendations part, I'm also not sure if I should be sending an email to the Cc's of each submitter I've recommended prestige to or leave that up to Aaron and/or Shannon…?

SUMMARY

Well it’s been an interesting month so far. Had a night restful two week vacation and immediately got back into the swing of things.  I am handling many issues in addition to the normal outreach duties.  I've been in contact with Brian Lemare the New ARST Solitary.(or rather he tracked me down ) I've worked with him in the past and look forward to working with him in the future.

2. OUTSTANDING ISSUES

I've been dispatched to look into CA021 Moustique Noir Membership issues and see about getting those resolved. I've just started to delve into the issue as this report goes to post.

3. CURRENT ISSUES

Currently I am happy to announce that the Reno Chapter is back up and running. New CC and CST elections have taken place and will be working to get the chapter out of the red. I had been in contact with Jim Baylock to get the back reports so they would have something to work with reports wise and rebuild the chapter roster. In addition to working with the new CC Alexa Griswald closely in any needs or questions she might have. Can we see about getting her onto the Reporting list (and me for that matter?)

I have tried without luck to contact the Hawaii chapter currently but will keep trying to make some contact with them.

I've been in contact and made myself available with various CCs around here and some have contacted me or asked for my contact information. Just making myself available to the membership, my duties are somewhat light with only two independent members.

4. QUESTIONS/CONCERNS

I just have a question/concern about a current RST practice that has been around for awhile which has been to give CST’s the powers of a DST after an amount of time. This brings me some concern as the practice while it does decrease the amount of work of the RST staff discourages chapters from joining with or forming domains. I know its a ST issue but its ones which ramifications bleed over to the Coordinator side of things in my mind.

///

RC Comment:

I'll have a discussion with Peter on this. It bears consideration.

////

Also recently the Chapter in Utah the desert Rose folded. Some of the members there have gone independent. Is it appropriate for the DC to handle these members or is it appropriate for me to as the ARC-Outreach.

////

RC Comment:

I will speak with the DC and see if they are willing to take them on as independents of the Domain. If not, they would be yours. I would like to see them join/form a new chapter however.

////

Also with the lightness of my current duties when should I start delving into phase 2 with the independent chapters? Looking over the reports from some of the chapters and from contact I’ve gotten a quasi DC for these chapters is needed. A lot of them are feeling ignored (more than likely by the last RC) I feel I’m ready to delve into this aspect of things if needed.

///

RC Comments:

We will be discussing this soon. I have some new projects for you and we will be addressing the independent chapters as well. More to come.

Back in the saddle again, it's been a hectic month, with moving and all. I'm getting back into the swing of things as I have solid internet access once again.  I'll be dealing with things whiles Aaron takes a nice break for a few weeks.

I plan on checking over the CC report prestige sections this week.

2. PROBLEMS/SOLUTIONS

Something that was a problem for me in the beginning is when people would send an email to Aaron and I asking a question about Prestige and I was unsure of if he had responded or not and I didn't want to respond and risk contradicting him, etc. I spoke with Aaron about this and we will both make sure that the prestige list is at least CC'd in our responses to questions about prestige. That way we know if the other has responded and what the answer was, as to not cross wires.

From early on in the existence of the Camarilla in Arizona, there have been many common misconceptions about prestige and what it's awarded for, and I'm betting Arizona is not alone in this. To help resolve this I am thinking of setting up regular office hours of sorts, times when I will be online and on IRC, specifically to help answer questions about prestige.

Things such as workshops on messaging clients or chat rooms to help new members learn about prestige, how to earn it, and squash those pesky misconceptions early on, is another thing I am thinking about trying out to see how it goes.

3. REVIEWS IN PROGRESS

Luci Helmer (MC6), Phil Bernake (MC6), and Mike Meyers

(MC7) logs have all been reviewed and sent to Aaron to ensure that I'm on the same page he is as far as the auditing process goes. Once I make sure we are on the same page the logs will be returned to them for corrections and answers to a few questions I had about some awards on their logs.

I am currently reviewing Guy Seggev and John Blankenship's logs.

Section 2: Projects

Currently there is a concern surrounding the Regional Funds.  WE have yet to receive a check from the member that last held the funds in question. She has since moved to the NW Region. After repeated attempts to collect these funds from her we still remain without them.  This matter has been turned over to the BoD,

A new ARC Administration will be needed as Tara is leaving the position.

ICC is coming up soon. I must admit that I look upon its coming as an onerous task to be endured.

No submissions or bids for a Regional event have been received despite our early requests for people to start submitting proposals.

Section 4: Issues

Edited for privacy

Section 5: Comments and Concerns

I'm fried.  I was in auto wreck this month and endured an assortment of personal life trails.  The events in the East Coast and the distress fallout on the cam members have been an ongoing stress.  (Edited for Privacy)  ICC coming up is a constant worry in the back of my mine. I'm a bit anxious over the Regional Funds matter.  I've come up against a plethora of instances of CC’s not really knowing how to deal with interpersonal crisis and conflicts between their chapter members and or other chapters. My Prestige ARC’s are often flooded with hair splitting prestige questions. Many of these inquiry threads evolve into debates. I would like to make it very clear that it's ok to ask questions but if members and coordinators have issue with any of the rulings/clarifications/answers they receive they can look to the appeal or complaint processes outline in the Tome.

Similarly, should anyone feel that an e-mail post from a Cam officer is incorrect/inaccurate/mistaken/needing clarification/whatever; they need to address their concern privately. Ideally it would be with the officer in question. Such communications are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct. It is my recommendation to all Camarilla officers in the SW Region that they take any such correspondence professionally. Should any revisions or corrections or the like need to be made, it should be done so in a calm and informational manner and some acknowledgement should be made in recognition of the correcting member's assistance.

Finally, Matt Smith is my ARC Arbitration. He's MC 14 and has prestige to spare. At this point, prestige awards are immaterial to him. He can't go any higher without BOD nomination anyhow. So awarding him prestige is little more than recognition. I was curious if it might be possible (if the SW RST is willing) to arrange for him to be allowed to gain an additional XP over his cap for months that he should be awarded prestige for doing his ARC job. This may sound strange, but I wanted to bounce the idea out there. I asked about this last month but didn't hear back on it.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."
